I grew up in Weston and studied for my Diploma in Art & Design at Weston College in 1991. I then went on to study Fine Art (Painting) at Bretton Hall in West Yorkshire, completing my degree in 1994. I returned to Weston and have been working as a full time artist here for the last ten years.

My paintings are based on themes of evolution and conservation, and the need to preserve information for the future. I am inspired by nature and history. My work often features natural objects such as butterflies, fossils or rock strata, or manmade artifacts such as maps or illuminated manuscripts.

I work mainly in oils or acrylics, building up the surface of the painting by a method of layering thin glazes of paint.

Painting a cricket theme on Angus the donkey was a challenge, but one I thoroughly enjoyed! My design features a village cricket match seen from both sides, and objects to find based on cricketing terms. For a list of objects to find, look on Angus’ tummy!
