Town Centre Management within Weston-super-Mare provides its core services principally within the town centre, but has extended its radio link scheme to encompass Worle & Marchfield’s Way.
Provision of a strong diverse retail offer, which balances the major high street brands with local independent businesses, is the goal which the WTCP works towards. The role of Town Centre Management covers five primary areas:-
• Strategic Development – drawing together the different goals and aspirations of the public and private sector to form a single cohesive vision and achievable objective
• Operational Issues – In the day to day use of the town centre there will always be issues to resolve in order to create a better environment and improve the street scene. Many of the issues, whilst not difficult to resolve, require ongoing actions. Effective town management can help deliver a better service to the community, by co-coordinating and channeling resources/expertise across different service areas
• Crime Reduction – Weston Business Crime Reduction Initiative lobbies at strategic levels to initiate policies and tactical operations to combat crime and to put in place programmes to diminish crime levels. The aim is to reduce the burden of crime to business and maintain a pleasant environment at all times for town centre visitors. Storenet and Nitenet radio link system links the daytime and night time economies and currently there are 105 members.
• Encouraging Private Sector Investment – Developing a brand for the town centre is vital in ensuring future investment from the private and public sectors. Planning for bespoke town centre events is an important part of improving the retail offer and vibrancy of the town (see WTCP website for details).
• Engaging the Retail Sector – WTCP has initiated and resurrected five town centre traders associations and has been actively involved in the Hotel & Restaurant Association and Chamber of Commerce.

Weston College A level students are 16- 18 year olds hailing from Weston super Mare and from as far afield as Clevedon and Bristol. This popular and successful A level Art program develops students painting and drawing skills and awareness of Art from Classical to Contemporary. Students explore a variety of media from Print to Photoshop and study trip opportunities vary from London to Madrid.
